Skateboarding Olympics 2024 Overview
Skateboarding blew up in the US back in the 1950s. Like a rebellious cousin to surfing, it was all about freedom and pushing limits. Fast forward to the 21st century, and it’s become a massive deal, even for children as young as ten.
It’s become a massive deal as a sport, and it’s now an Olympic sport! In the Skateboarding Olympics 2024, there are two categories: park and street. Park competitions are where skaters do wild tricks. Street skating is akin to just skating on the streets, but it also involves obstacles like stairs and rails. Judges look at how high athletes jump, how fast they go, and how cool their tricks are.
Skateboarding made its Olympic debut in Tokyo in 2020 and returned to Paris in 2024. They had it happen in the city’s heart, at the Place de la Concorde!

- Japan – Yoshizawa Coco (GOLD)
- Japan – Akama Liz (SILVER)
- Brazil – Rayssa Leal (BRONZE)
Japan dominated the Women’s Street Skateboarding Olympics 2024 final. Yoshizawa Coco led the field throughout the competition, showcasing exceptional skill and consistency. Her clutch performance on the fourth attempt of the final, where she landed a massive bigspin flip with a boardslide, secured her Gold medal with a score of 96.49.
Yoshizawa’s teammate, Akama from Japan, put up an intense fight for the gold. She set the early pace in the final with impressive scores but ultimately fell short on her final trick attempt, handing the victory to Yoshizawa. Despite the disappointment, Akama’s performance was commendable, earning her the Silver medal for Paris 2024!
Brazil’s Rayssa Leal showcased her talent with a high score in the trick portion. However, a few stumbles during her run hindered her chances for a higher podium finish. She secured the Bronze medal with a strong final trick, adding to Brazil’s medal count.

Skateboarding Paris 2024 Men’s Street Medalists
- Japan – Horigome Yuto (GOLD)
- USA – Jagger Eaton (SILVER)
- USA – Nyjah Huston (BRONZE)
Japan’s Horigome Yuto once again claimed the Gold medal in the men’s street final at the Skateboarding Olympics 2024 in Paris. In a dramatic finish, Horigome landed his signature backside nollie 270 on his final attempt, earning a massive score of 97.08 and securing the top spot on the podium.
The United States’ Jagger Eaton delivered a strong performance, securing the Silver medal. After starting in fourth place, Eaton steadily climbed the ranks, eventually taking the lead with a 95.25 score. While he couldn’t land his final trick, his overall performance was impressive.
Nyjah Huston, also representing the United States, rounded out the podium with a Bronze medal. Huston showcased his exceptional skills throughout the competition, briefly holding the top spot before being overtaken by his competitors. His consistent performance earned him a well-deserved spot on the medal stand!
Paris 2024 Skateboarding Women’s Park Results
- Australia – Arisa Trew (GOLD)
- Japan – Hiraki Cocona (SILVER)
- Great Britain – Sky Brown (BRONZE)
At just 14 years old, Australia’s Arisa Trew stole the show and became her country’s youngest Olympic Gold medalist. Trew’s final run earned her a top score of 93.18, propelling her to the top of the podium. This victory wasn’t just about competition – Trew is also a skateboarding pioneer. Earlier this year, she became the first woman to land a 900, a staggering two-and-a-half rotation spin.
Japan’s Cocona Hiraki secured a Silver medal, marking her second consecutive time finishing second in the Skateboarding Olympics 2024 Park finals. While leading the qualifiers, Hiraki was briefly overtaken by Trew and Brown. However, she rallied with a solid third run, solidifying her position for silver.
Great Britain’s Sky Brown defied expectations and grabbed the Bronze medal despite facing significant challenges. Just days before the competition, Brown dislocated her shoulder. Her resilience was evident as she pushed through the pain, even suffering a fall on the injured shoulder. Despite these limitations, Brown’s decisive third run secured her a place on the podium, adding a second bronze to her collection.

His second run, in particular, was a highlight of the competition, earning praise from fellow skaters and legends alike. A heartbreaking slam on his final attempt couldn’t dampen the excitement of his silver medal win, though.
Brazil’s Augusto Akio made a strong impression with his final run, securing the Bronze. His performance showcased the incredible talent coming out of Brazil and added to the excitement of the competition.
