After sending 124 athletes, and coming back home with seven medals from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, India is back at it again. This time, India at Paris Olympics 2024 is sending over a hundred athletes to bring home more of those shiny Olympic medals. And of course this time, Neeraj Chopra has all eyes on him after his last epic golden javelin throw from the previous Olympics.

Overview of Athletes from India at Paris Olympics 2024
India has always been strong in athletics, and its appearance in the Paris Olympics is no different! This year, they’ve got an impressive team lined up – and they just happen to be a mix of old pros and super-talented newbies.
Let’s shine a spotlight on some of the athletes to look out for (and ones that have already taken home a few medals for their home country):
- Neeraj Chopra. A golden boy and reigning Olympic champion in the Men’s Javelin Throw from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Chopra will be the face of India’s Olympic campaign, and defend his title on August 6 at the State de France.
- Avinash Sable. A steeplechase star! He’s been showing serious promise and recently clocked an amazing time of 8:15.43 to qualify for the Paris Olympics final of the Men’s 3000m Steeplechase. That’s huge – he’s the first Indian man to do this!
- Priyanka Goswami. India’s leading race walker! Goswami recently performed for India at Paris Olympics 2024 in the Women’s 20km race walk, finishing in 41st place. But the race is not over yet: on August 7, she’s set to pair up with Suraj Panwar for the Race Walk Mixed Marathon to try and bring in the Gold for India.
Other notable athletes include Kishore Jena (men’s javelin throw), Parul Chaudhary (women’s steeplechase), Vikash Singh (men’s race walk), and many more!
Archery: India at 2024 Olympics Silent Assailants
India’s archery team is on fire! They’ve brought in a mix of young guns and seasoned pros to the Paris Olympics – the perfect combination, if you will.
- Deepika Kumari. A veteran of the sport, Deepika lead the women’s team for India at Paris Olympics 2024. She made it as far as the quarter-finals for the Women’s Individual event but ended India’s campaign in archery after her loss on August 4.
- Ankita Bhakat. A promising young archer with a record of securing 11th in the women’s individual recurve qualifications for Paris 2024! She and fellow archer Dhiraj Bommadevara recently went against Team USA for the mixed team archery, aiming for Bronze – but ultimately lost.
Other notable archers include Dhiraj Bommadevara, Tarundeep Rai, Bhajan Kaur, and Pravin Jadhav. It is with great regret that India at Paris Olympics 2024 has bowed out of the running for medals in Archery. However, not all hope is lost, as there are still other sports that Indians are bound to excel on!
Badminton: India at Paris Olympics 2024 Featherweight Fighters
Badminton has surged in India, and the Paris Olympics have witnessed the country’s best players in action!
- PV Sindhu. A two-time Olympic medalist, Sindhu was a strong contender for India in badminton at the Paris Olympics. However, she was unable to progress in the women’s singles competition, falling short against He Bing Jao of China.
- Lakshya Sen. A Youth Olympic Games powerhouse, he secured gold in Mixed Relay and silver in Men’s Singles. The athlete advanced to the bronze medal match in Men’s Singles, a first for an Indian badminton player. However, he was ultimately defeated by his primary competitor, Lee Zii Jia of Malaysia.
Other players on the Indian badminton team include Satwik and Chirag, the doubles pair, and Ashwini and Tanisha. Unfortunately, India’s out of the medal race for badminton this time around.
But Lakshya Sen’s record-breaking results for Indian players in Badminton show that the team has a fighting spirit and is even more inspired to fight back harder in the next Olympics!

Shooting: India’s Sharpshooters
India at Paris Olympics 2024 has a shooting team that’s not throwing away their shot! They’ve been consistent medal winners, and this year’s games is no exception. With a strong contingent of talented shooters, the country is eyeing multiple podium finishes.
- Manu Bhaker. In fact, Manu, a young sensation who has already made waves in the shooting world, snagged India’s 1st medal in the Paris Olympics 2024. With a bronze medal for the Women’s 10m Air Pistol, it’s not even the end of the line. She has also taken home Bronze with Sarabjot Singh in the Mixed team 10m air pistol round, making them both shooting powerhouses.
- Sarabjot Singh. Sing your praises for Sarabjot. After shooting his shot in the Men’s qualification and missing, he buckled up and tag-teamed with Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker in the Mixed team 10m air pistol. Ending? They ultimately brought in the Bronze for India!
- Swapnil Kusale. The tale of Indian sharpshooters is not over yet! India didn’t just win one, not even two, but three medals for their country. And Kusale rounds that all up by winning the Bronze medal in the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions final!
India’s shooting team is stacked with talent! We’ve got rising stars like Manu Bhaker, plus seasoned pros like Sandeep Singh, Swapnil Kusale, and Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar. The three bronze medals they brought home are proof of India’s shooting dominance.
As the Shooting portion of the Olympics ends, the future is looking a little bright for future Indian sharpshooters (and other athletes still in the running!)
